Registration is free but mandatory to participate at the Conference. Restrictions due to Covid-19 apply, as admission to the conference hall is based on prevalent vaccination requirements and only first fifty registrants will be admitted.

BACKGROUND
Solid waste management is a challenge for both developing and developed economies of the world. We have planned this Conference, under the aegis of GIZ, German Agency for International Cooperation and supported by NUE Foundation/Environment Lottery Bingo in Hamburg. Increasing urbanization and economic growth result in increasing generation of waste, posing a serious threat to the environment. Therefore, it is timely that the Indian Stakeholders in Solid Waste Management initiate a dialogue with the German Experts. This has become possible under a project sponsored by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. We wish to discuss the achievements and results from this project and find ways and means to further promote international collaboration to find solutions to this important issue of waste management.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
To promote Indo German collaboration between industry and academic Institutions in India and Germany for research and development of new technologies to cope with solid waste management issues in the developing world.

THEME OF THE CONFERENCE
We expect that scientists, researchers, activists and practitioners from academia and industry from India and Germany will participate to elaborate
scientific ideas, share experiences, discuss environmental issues, and find innovative strategies for waste management. The aim will be to learn and improve from each other’s experiences and based on expertise available already in Germany, efforts will be made to develop recommendations and suggestions for enhancing the existing waste management systems in India. With this aim in view, the proceedings of the Conference will be published - that will include not only papers presented at the Conference but also invited articles from eminent experts from both the countries who may not be able to attend the Conference.
